Places of reservation for the Blessed Sacrament vary in their locus, depending on the particular church community, custom, and the local Ordinary’s wishes. Tabernacles are the monuments of the reserved Blessed Sacrament. They are appropriately designed for security and adorned to express the Blessed Sacrament’s reverence.

Ambries contain blessed and consecrated oils. As they are related to baptism, they may be located near or within baptisteries. Occasionally, the oils are separately located based on their specific sacramental function. For instance, the Oil of the Catechumens may be located at the worship space’s main entrance, the Oil of the Infirm found near the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament for viaticum, and the Holy Chrism placed at the font itself.
