There are architects who happen to build churches. And then there are church architects.
Nestled in New York City’s historic and vibrant Hudson Square, Arthur John Sikula Associates (AJSA) is an accomplished firm of architects, liturgical architects, professional land planners, and consultants.
The firm’s principal, Arthur J. Sikula, is a registered architect in New York and is also nationally certified (NCARB). Other active architectural registrations include New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and California. Mr. Sikula is also a licensed professional land planner in New Jersey.
Much of the inspiration behind AJSA took place on the other side of the world during Mr. Sikula’s travels to the Middle East and Europe shortly after graduating architecture school. This culturally and spiritually dynamic journey provided early exposure to a vast array of religious sites and laid the groundwork for our fascination with building powerful worship spaces.
Today, Mr. Sikula is listed in the Directory of Liturgical Consultants for Worship Space (FDLC), and our firm is committed to the full development of worship spaces that integrate the theology of the user with the design process. What sets us apart is our thorough understanding of the beliefs, customs, and practices associated with each project.
Over the years, AJSA has also built a reputation for fostering strong, long-term relationships. This mindset has allowed us to cultivate a collaborative environment with clients, contractors, and business partners.
Well versed in religious, commercial, institutional, multiple dwelling, and hospitality building types, we are just as comfortable creating iconic experiences like the John Paul II-Mass in Central Park-1995 as we are with building breathtaking commercial spaces like an inspired dealership showroom for Mercedes-Benz.
