Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Oakland, NJ

Inspired by the existing geometries of the three-pointed arches, our office created a reredos screen in layers of abstract tree-like forms. This dynamic expression is completed in a crucifix fashioned from locally harvested tree trunks.

All new finishes were specified, as were new cultic furnishings designed by AJSA. A new rose window was introduced for additional natural light and existing clerestory windows were refashioned in stained glass scriptural narratives. A new lighting design enhances the floating cloud-like ceiling canopy which conceals the air distribution systems (Photography by Chun Y Lai. All Rights Reserved).
