Benedict XVI - The Mass at Yankee Stadium

Within the legendary confines of the old Yankee Stadium, the design and placement of the cultic furnishings was inspired by the Imperial Patristic Byzantine presbyterium, as exemplified by the "synthronos" of Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Lateran, the seat of the Bishop of Rome (the Pontiff). The arrangement of the sanctuary platforms anticipate the processional paths of the Pontiff and bishops and ceremonial of the Eucharistic liturgy itself.
